Eighty-six medical personnel who came into contact with the fifth confirmed Covid-19 patient in Khon Kaen province have not contracted the virus, Khon Kaen governor Somsak Jangtrakul said on Friday (April 17).

Test results for the 86 medics came back negative on Friday. However, all remain in quarantine as a precautionary measure.

Medical staff at Nam Phong Hospital came into contact with a 63-year-old female patient before tests revealed that she was the fifth person confirmed infected with Covid-19 in the province. She was then sent to Khon Kaen Hospital for treatment.

Somsak said the accuracy of the results was guaranteed as tests were done at Khon Kaen Regional Hospital, Srinagarind Hospital and Regional Medical Sciences Centre 7 Khon Kaen.
